How does the password manager keep my information secure?
How does the password manager keep my information secure?
Solution
When first run, the password manager will ask you for a master password.
Once entered, it can never be changed, and the reason why helps to explain why our product is so secure. When you enter the master password, the entire password system is encrypted using the master password. so, if you were to ever change it, you would be unable to access the data in the database.
We also never store the master password. When you open Vortex in the future, the password you enter is used to attempt to decrypt your password database. If it is successful, then the password was correct, if not, then we assume it isn't right. By using this method, we know the system will be secure, and there is no method available to restore a lost master password. So, be warned and write it down and put it in a safe place in case something happens.
In case you were wondering, there is no back-door method we can use to restore your data or your password, as that would defeat our intention here of creating a safe place for all of your passwords.
